West Union to hold meeting outdoors
West Union Missionary Baptist Church will begin a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3. Brother Ralph Benham will bring the nightly devotional; County Missionary Brother Ron Pitts will bring the nightly message. The services will be held in the outdoor pavilion located behind the church.

Square dance Friday night
On Friday, Aug. 17, the Mo-Kan Square Dancers will have Rod Krehbiel calling for our dance. All dancers and interested persons are invited to attend. This will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the Home Ec Building at the Vernon County Fairgrounds, Nevada. Admission is $5 for adult dancers and $3 for youth

MDC reminds hunters migratory bird and waterfowl seasons start in September
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds hunters that migratory bird hunting starts Sept. 1 with the opening day for dove, snipe, and rail, followed by waterfowl hunting with teal season starting Sept. 8. Mourning doves, Eurasian collared doves, and white-winged doves may be taken from Sept. 1 through Nov. 29 from one half hour
MDC to host free dove hunting clinic for youths Aug. 26 near Clinton
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a free Discover—Nature Youth Dove Hunting Clinic 5 p.m. until dark on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Golden Valley Shooting Range near Clinton. This event is open for youths ages 11-15. Youths who participate in the clinic will also get a chance to hunt doves with MDC
