Bowfin or grinnel

Bowfin (Amia calva) are bony fishes related to gars in the infraclass Holostei. Common names include mudfish, mud pike, dogfish, griddle, grinnel, swamp trout and choupique. They are regarded as taxonomic relicts, being the sole surviving species of the order Amiiformes which dates from the Jurassic to the Eocene, persisting to the present.

Bryce Wosoba competes nationally

Bryce Wosoba, son of Aaron and Stacy Wosoba, El Dorado Springs and a member of Cedar County 4-H, represented the state of Missouri at the 2019 National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships in June as a member of the state Recurve Archery Team. The team took home daily awards in each event and as a team.

Red Black scrimmage a wash

The scheduled Red Black football scrimmage Saturday evening was a wash, literally. It and the softball scrimmage were rained out. Head Football Coach Kelley Beckner told the Sun his team would conduct the scrimmage Monday evening, Aug. 19. He thought the softball team would scrimmage Wednesday evening.

OZARK MOUNTAIN NATIONALS – This past weekend several hundred martial arts competitors gathered in Springfield, Missouri for the annual OZARK MOUNTAIN NATIONALS Karate Tournament.
