Flora Bea McKinney was born in rural Vernon County on April gth, 1934 to Clay and Pernia Heath, and her three siblings. She enjoyed attending school at Stoney Point and Prairie Valley and then the Schell City High School.

This is where she found love with Hugh McKinney. These high school sweethearts married on August 2gth, 1950 and settled in the rural Schell City area. Hugh and Flora Bea had a busy life, working hard side-by-side to provide for their five sons, Randy, Robby, Buddy, Billy and Donny. Yet, they always found time to have fun and create many happy memories for their children and grandchildren.

Eventually their family grew to include 6 Granddaughters, 1 Grandson, and 18 Great-Grandchildren. Hugh and Flora Bea lived at the current family home from 1963 until his passing in 1988.

Flora Bea has passed on a love of nature with her bountiful gardens, camping at the family cabin, cutting wood to warm the home, hunting and fishing, and who could ever forget all the delicious homemade meals around her kitchen table.

These traditions continue still today, with big family dinners and plenty of love and laughter to fill her home.

Flora Bea has also taught her family to love the Lord. She has attended the Schell City First Baptist Church her entire life and is always there to lend a caring, helping hand to all in need.

Flora Bea has had great sorrows and great joys, but teaches us to love your life and laughter is often the cure.
