The meeting was called to order by President Judy Nichols and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Members present were President Judy Nichols, Vice President Bob Phillips, Treasurer Kay Snow, Assistant Treasurer Shirley Potts, Secretary Connie Maupin, Luella Phipps, Sharyl Henry, Kenneth Potts, Chris Barber, Clark Montgomery and visitor Jackie Wales.

Library Director Glenda Pate from the Cedar County Library spoke to the membership in regard to the one-quarter cent sales tax increase on the April 4 ballot.

There was no meeting in February.  Minutes from the January meeting were read by Secretary Connie Maupin and the treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Kay Snow and approved by the membership.

Bob Phillips stated that Leslie James, Field Archivist for the Mo. State Archives, is working on a program on prohibition cases in the area. No date set as yet but we look forward to what should be a very interesting program. Phillips volunteered to give a short lecture at each meeting on some interesting local historical event. Clark Montgomery agreed to present an archaeological program in the near future.

Connie Maupin reported that Best Choice bar codes are now counted and ready to be mailed for redemption. Recycling of ink cartridges was discussed.

Bob Phillips reported that shelving from the old Fair Play library may no longer be available to us.

Reprinting of Historical Sketches of Cedar County and Lyceum Series: Cedar County and the Civil War, was again discussed.

A date for the next Board meeting was discussed and the next meeting will be at 1 p.m. on April 7 at the museum in Stockton.

Summer meeting hours were discussed and it was decided to continue meeting the third Thursday of the month at 1 p.m.

New museum hours for the summer: The first and third Wednesday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m. These dates and hours will be in effect April through October, 2017.

The membership decided we should again participate in the El Dorado Springs Picnic July 20, 21 and 22. We will volunteer to work at the Wayside Inn Museum and sell our publications. Other avenues for earning funds were discussed without result.

Connie Maupin donated several copies of “Minutes of Cedar County Baptist Association” years 1998 through 2001.

Our next meeting will be April 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the museum at 106 West Davis Street in Stockton. Our meetings are open to the public. Our museum and research hours for the summer will be the first and third Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Otherwise we will be open by appointment.
