University of Missouri Extension Council of Cedar County met at 7 p.m. on the evening of May 6 in the El Dorado Springs High School Agriculture Building for the monthly council meeting.  Members in attendance were Mark Beason, Scott Casey, Victoria Ford, Kelly Hendricks, Randy Langsten, Michele Pate, Joy Rutledge and Maranda Spangler.  Also in attendance were University of Missouri Extension staff members Tammy Ikerd, County Engagement Specialist in 4-H Youth Development, and Mikayla Fox, Cedar County 4-H Youth Program Associate. This meeting report is adapted from meeting minutes provided by council secretary Maranda Spangler.      

The budget and audit committee reviewed the results of the audit conducted on April 17, no discrepancies were found and no recommendations for changes in processes were provided. 

The programs committee were provided the date of the first barn quilt workshop (May 25), discussed the pending deadline Cedar County nominee for the Missouri State Fair Farm Family.  The Farm Bureau will meet on May 9 and will submitted names for consideration by the Extension Council.     

In new business, the MU to You event being held at Lucas Oil Speedway on August 24 was discussed.  There will be many departments from campus represented at the event, designed to showcase what Mizzou and Extension have to offer our communities. 

Cedar County 4-H will hold an inaugural fund raising dinner to kick off National 4-H week on Oct. 5 at the El Dorado Springs High School cafeteria.  Tickets will be pre-sold for $7, with a price of $9 at the door.  Dinner will consist of a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, desserts and iced tea or lemonade. There will also be a pie/cake auction alongside a silent auction for themed baskets.
