A large crowd of 130 attended the Cedar SWCD Annual Dinner Meeting April 28, 2016, at the Stockton United Methodist Church.  An outstanding meal, catered by Jackson and Kim Jones, was enjoyed by all. Conservation highlights was given by Drexel Atkisson, NRCS District Conservationist, and Jackson Jones, Farm Service Agency CED.

It was a great night and we’d like to thank all that attended this year’s meeting.

The main event of the Cedar County Soil and Water annaul meeting was our Awards Presentation started with our Annual Cedar SWCD Poster Contest.  This year, we recognized the Cedar County 3rd, 4th and 6th grade Poster Contest Winners.  The theme this year is “WE ALL NEED TREES.”  The top four contestants and their families in each grade were invited to join us for the presentation.  All 1st Place Posters will go on to the State level and possibly all the way to the National Level. All those attending the Annual Meeting were able to vote on their favorite poster and Victoria Nail received the “People’s Choice Award” as well.

Cooperator of Year 2 cc

COOPERATOR OF YEAR – We were proud to award this years “Cooperator of the Year” to Aaron Rieder.  Aaron lives and has property in the Olympia area.   Aaron has always promoted good stewardship by not only implementing intensive rotational grazing system, but also pasture improvement, establishing permanent vegetation, warm season grass establishment, nutrient management, wildlife practices by planting conservation cover and water quality practices.

10 YEARS – The Length of Service Award was presented to Dean Pate of Stockton, for serving on the Cedar SWCD Board of Supervisors for 10 years.
