LIONS GO SHOPPING – The El Dorado Springs Lions, assisted by a few elves, took several children “Shopping” last week for the Lions’ annual Shop-With-A-Lion event. Funds for this and other Lions projects come from individual and business donations, fund raising events such as Picnic Concession Trailer (Lion Burgers), Pancake and/or Biscuit and Gravy Breakfast, etc. In addition to their Shop-With-A-Lion project, the Lions are active in many other community projects: Conducting eye screenings at both local schools, purchasing eyeglasses for the needy, building wheelchair ramps for the handicapped, maintaining the Carter Memorial Park (owned by the Lions, free for use by the public), and many more. In addition to these and other community projects, they also provide a nice “meeting place” (Lions Club Building) for rent. SHOPKO DONATES TO LIONS’ PROJECT – The El Dorado Springs Lions received a Community Charitable Grant from Shopko Hometown Stores to assist them in their Shop-with-a-Lion project. Each year the Lions select a number of children to go “shopping” for a better Christmas. Pictured are (from left) local Shopko Hometown Manager Nick Rodenberg presenting a check for $500 to the Lions Club treasurer, Edith Winfiel, as Lion President Charles Winfiel looks on.
