Leader Robbie C. called our meeting to order and ask Kay to lead our song. She led us in the song “Go, Go, Go To TOPS.”

Our TOPS and KOPS Pledges were recited.

Marilyn D. then led us in exercises to get us warmed up and awake. She then called Linda W. to receive her Back in Black Certificate from back in April.

While Marilyn was still up, Robbie asked her to come and receive her special five-Year KOPS charm that she earned from the TOPS International Headquarters. Congratulations Marilyn, you deserved this award. Marilyn has not been out of her KOPS leeway (3 lbs. above her goal weight and 7 lbs. below) since she became a KOPS.

Roll Call was taken. We had 25 weigh in and 4.2 lbs. net loss. Our best loser was Melissa S. losing 4.4 lbs. Great job Melissa.

Robbie gave our program today. It was an encouraging letter from our TOPS Club President, Barbara Cady. She said “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.” The story of the horse and the water points to the need for each one of us to take ownership of his or her life. Each of us has a desire to eat, to drink, to live, to thrive, and to learn Many others may provide us with opportunities for advice, help, support and nurturing, but no one can force us to take what is offered – even though it might be a right choice. In other words, you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped.

So how do we help? Back off. Do your best to lead those horses to the cool, clear, refreshing water and stop. They know how thirsty they are and when they want to take a drink. If not right now, they will be back later – if we don’t push them away. We have to trust the intelligence of the people we so much want to help. We can still be caring, supportive friends, coworkers, or family members. Just like it says in the Serenity Prayer, “I” will change what I can, accept what I can’t and be attuned to the difference.

We need to invite those who could use the help and support to come along with us. Invite, don’t push and who knows, they may get thirsty for more and soon come and drink deeply. And another TOPS friend will join the family.

Thank you Robbie for sharing this good advice.

Sheryl won the right to draw for the winning white marble, but didn’t get it. Better luck next time.

If you’re in the June contest, remember you are responsible for keeping track of your letters and weight. Have them ready to turn in to Warren on the 29, which is the last day of the contest.

Remember, that Elections are the second week in July. If you haven’t turned in your job sheet yet, please give it to Robbie next week.

We reviewed our Chapter Bylaws today. As “6. ABSENCES (a)” is an addition for clarification, no motion was needed. However, a vote was taken on adding “If you are contacted” and it passed and will be added as it reads below:

6. ABSENCES

(a) You are marked absent unless you notify another member or an officer that you will not be attending the meeting. (If you are contacted, please make sure the Weight Recorders are notified!) You are excused if notification was made prior to the meeting.

Motion was made by Susan S. and seconded by Jan T. to add the changes to “8. AWARDS: TOPS (c)” to read as follows:

8. AWARDS:

TOPS

(c) If absent the previous week or weeks, the weight loss will be divided by the number of absences to determine the weekly and monthly best loser. To qualify for the monthly best loser money, a member must weigh in and stay for at least 2 meetings and have lost at least 5 lbs.

The motion carried.

Motion was made by Marie B. and seconded by Steve S. to change” 9. RECOGNITION (f)” to read as follows:

9. RECOGNITION:

(f) Before registration is mailed, members who wish to preregister for S.R.D. must make a deposit of $30. If that member does attend, the deposit will be returned after S.R.D. If a preregistered member is unable to attend or get a replacement, they must repay chapter for registration fee and therefore, the $30 deposit will be kept. If a member questions reimbursement to chapter, they may petition payment. The Executive Committee will vote on this in private.

The motion carried.

Motion was made by Lynda B. and seconded by Marilyn D. to change ”9. RECOGNITION: (g)” to read as follows:

(g) To be eligible for the above, members must attend all three S.R.D. sessions (Friday evening, Saturday

The motion carried.
