TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday, Jan. 31, for their weekly weigh-in, and meeting.
Leader Sheryl Ann called our meeting to order and Kay led us in singing “Eat A Carrot” We said our TOPS and KOPS pledges.
Marilyn led us in some stretching exercises.
Sheryl led us in roll call & walking report.
Twenty-six weighed in today and the chapter had a net Loss of .8 lbs.
Weeks best loser was a tie with Linda C and Angie each losing 4.4 lbs. Congratulations to both of you and keep up the good work.
Marble Game: Judy D won the right to draw but did not get the winning one. The pot stands at $38.
Mary reported on the contest first week. Linda H’s team is in 1st place followed closely by Carol’s team. She said it is very close and just because your team won this week don’t mean they will win the contest. KOPS keep your teams motivated!
Sheryl brought up the discussion of a March Baked Potato Luncheon. She asked if anyone would be willing to chair this event. Linda H said she would chair it. Motion then made by Warren to have the Baked Potato Luncheon on March 14, Carol seconded motion vote taken and motion passed. Sheryl said we would have an executive meeting next week following the regular meeting.
Sheryl then turned the floor over to Linda H for the program.
Linda spoke on the benefits of laughter and with the help of other members that she had telling jokes along the way gave an excellent and entertaining program. Some facts she told us:
1. 10-15 minutes of laughter urns about 50 calories.
2. Laughter produces natural endorphins that lower your blood pressure
3. Laughter is “internal jogging” that has health benefits
4. Laughter is “aerobics” for your system
5. Laughter is an all-over workout
6. Laughter decreases the spike in your blood sugar after a meal
7. Laughter makes you much more likely to exercise
8. Ten minutes of hearty laughter daily would burn an average of five pounds a year
9. Laughter strengthens your immune system
10. Genuine laughter, the kind that lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, burns the same number of calories found in a medium square of chocolate.
Thank you, Linda, for a fun and laughter filled program.
With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”.
