TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday June 27, 2019 for their weekly weigh in, and meeting.

Leader Sheryl Ann called our meeting to order and Kay led us in singing “Take Me OUT OF The Bakery.”  We said our TOPS & KOPS pledges.

Marilyn led us in some exercises.

Sheryl led us in roll call & walking report. Twenty-four weighed in today and the chapter had a net loss of 5.0 lbs. Best loser was Laura with a loss of 4 lbs. Congratulations Laura.

Marble game: Marie won the right to draw for a marble but did not get the winning one. Pot was at $45.50 this week.

Robbie reported on TOPS contest, there are several who just need one letter.

Susan and Melissa reported on the TOPS Summer contest. This is going well. Margie has contacted our “sister” chapter, Ellington the past 3 weeks. Each member is encouraged to contact them as well.

Marilyn has placed an order for charms and song books that will total over $50. Robbie made motion we purchase items needed for the chapter, Marie 2nd and motion passed.

Cheryl had a public service announcement.  West Central and the First Baptist Church are working on back packs for the school fair. Children will be getting a back pack, school supplies and shoes for back to school. The Soup Kitchen is in need of more food. They are taking donations. They serve a noon meal on Mondays and Wednesdays and an evening meal on Fridays.

Floor was turned over to Susan and Melissa for the program. They spoke on “Know Your Facts” taken from the Real People, Real weight loss, chapter 8. They stressed when you see your Doctor don’t get upset if he or she uses the “obese” word.  Use the resources available to you from your Doctor to set a healthy goal. Susan encouraged us to fill in the “know your numbers” chart and told us how to determine if you are a “pear” or an “apple.” Sometimes if you write it all down you can refer back to it and see your progress.  They also gave us a chart to determine our BMI. If you are interested in seeing if you are a “pear” or an “Apple” you can ask those taking the measurements in July to do this for you.

Thank you, Susan and Melissa, for a very good and interesting program.

Carol brought the tasting sample today. The main spice used was dill. The dish made was a Hungarian dish using bacon, Onions, cabbage, noodles and dill and paprika as a spice. It was very good.

Thank you, Carol.

Angie is bringing the tasting sample next week.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME.”
