TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday, July 19, 2018, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

Leader Sheryl Ann Walker called the meeting to order. She announced the best loser for the week was Traci with a loss of 1.8 lbs. Congratulations Traci.

Sheryl said we had a 7.8 loss and a 7.8 gain which left us with a zero-net gain.

Twenty-one weighed in today. Sheryl led us in roll call and the walking report.

Kay then led us in singing “Rock Off the Pounds” and we said our pledges.

Warren reported on the contest:

Judy B is tied with Sheryl for the lead and LoEtta is in second.

Sue reminded us July dues are due.

Sheryl said secret pals would be announced at the July 31 meeting.

Marble game:  Carol won the right to draw but did not get the winning one.

Sheryl said the church will be having Bible School the first week in August. We need to change our meeting day from Thursday, Aug. 2, to Tuesday, July 31, that week only. So, mark your calendars now. TOPS will be Tuesday, July 31, instead of Thursday Aug. 2. July 31 will be awards day just like it would be if we were meeting on Thursday.

Marilyn presented Judy B a certificate and charm for six-week steady loss.  Congratulations Judy.

Sheryl then introduced Samuel from Evans Drugs. He came to talk to us about the benefits of magnesium. He started by having a drawing and gave away a t-shirt that was won by Linda H.

He then said Magnesium is a mineral and is good for your muscles, nerves and blood sugar control. You can get Magnesium from foods such as almonds, cashews, spinach and other greens.

You can take magnesium supplements and there is a magnesium cream. The cream is a good way to help with muscle cramps.

He then spoke on sugar substitutes. Suggested research shows Stevia is probably the best if you are going to use a substitute.

Multi-vitamins, most people get enough vitamins through a healthy diet. But if for some reason multi vitamins can be used.

Vitamin “D” is necessary for bone health. Recommended amounts are 600 mg for males and 800 mg for females.

There were more drawings, Juanita, Sheryl and Jean each won t-shirts and Carol won a $10.00 gift certificate.

Evans Drug will do several programs for us in the coming months.

Meeting was adjourned with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”.
