On April 10, the Twentieth Century Club met with our hostess, Pauline Simone, with Jean Wernel serving as co-hostess.

Sandi Eaves, president, called the meeting to order. The committees gave their reports about the yearbook which is ready to be printed and about our membership dues for POPS and the Library.

Unfinished business was to decide the destination of our May trip which will be to tour the Dunnegan Gallery and have lunch at the Springfield Avenue Café both in Bolivar.

The opinion, presented by Georgia Detwiler, was about the bombing and killing of people with a chemical substance and our retaliation.

Our entertainment, provided by Sharyl Henry, was a test for old kids. The members gave verbal answers to questions which needed missing words or short answers. It was a recall of events back in our generation.

Georgia Detwiler gave an informative program on nursery rhymes. She shared her grandmother’s book of rhymes that she would read and learn rhymes from. The lyrics were used to convey Hidden messages about members of royalty and to make political statements. The rhymes were written down in the 18th Century and one of the oldest was Pat A Cake.

The meeting was adjourned to enjoy delicious refreshments.
