Our March 11 meeting was hosted by Sandi Eaves and co-hosted by Georgia Detwiler. The meeting was called to order by president Jean Wernel. The treasurers report was the only one given.

Evelyn Boyle provided the opinion. Her concern was about people in the medical field that are not good with their diagnosis and informing the patients of their findings.

The yearbook committee chairman, Ruth Woody, provided a sigh-up sheet for members to select their choice of hostess, co-hostess, opinion, and program. Kay Sewell and Pauline Simone reported back with information about our May trip. The topic for our next year programs is Food-Cooking.

Our entertainment was given by Pauline Simone. She gave a review of an article about  the theft of Andy Warhol’s art exhibit entitled “Campbell Soup Can” prints stolen from the Springfield Museum in 2016.

Glenda Baker ask for a donation to the City Clean Up to help with the expense of recycling old tires.

The program was two book reviews given by Jean Wernel. The first book was entitled “Lilac Girls” by author Martha Hall Kelley. The setting is during WWII about three girls; Caroline, a wealthy NY volunteer at a French consulate; Kasia, a young woman in Poland working with the resistance and is captured and sent to a women’s concentration camp; and Herta, a doctor hired to execute and perform experiments at the camp. After the war, Caroline goes to help assist in finding missing people when she learns about the women at the camp including Kasia who she given aid to. The second book was “Before We Were Yours” by Lisa Wingate. The true life stories in the book are  told of a nortorious scandle in which a woman, Georgia Tann, the director of a Memphis adoption organization, kidnapped and sold poor children to wealthy families all over the country.
