News from Harwood and Schell City

Madalyn’s Kitchen, south of Schell City, had her prime rib dinner Sunday, Aug. 12 She says she had a good crowd. She said she would like to thank everyone who came and ate.

Gene Lowe, who lived around Harwood most of his life, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital at El Dorado Springs. He had been in the nursing home at El Dorado Springs for several months. Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 9, at Bland-Hackleman and burial was at the National Cemetery at Fort Scott, KS.

Bob and Cheryl Ellerman, of Edwards, spent Tuesday, Aug. 7, in the home of Jewell and Helen Ellerman. Bob came to bring his mom, Jewell, home from Cedar County Memorial Hospital where she had spent 20 days in the Swing Bed program. She had hip surgery on July 16 at Freeman in Joplin. She came to the Swing Bed on July 19.

Church service was held at the Harwood Baptist Church Sunday, Aug. 12. Brother Mike Dunivan’s sermon was taken from Matthew 7:1-6. Brother Dunivan said they will have free hair cuts and free yard sale at the Church Saturday, Aug. 18.
