U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement praising the Trump administration’s withdrawal of the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule, which gave federal bureaucrats jurisdiction over more than 99 percent of Missouri.

“Today’s action by the Trump administration is a huge win for Missouri farmers, ranchers, and small business owners,” Blunt said. “The WOTUS rule was an egregious Washington power grab that would have made it impossible for the men and women who drive our state’s economy, especially in the agriculture sector, to do their jobs. That’s why I fought it every step of the way, and why I couldn’t be more happy to see it go. I look forward to continuing to work with the administration to roll back excessive, burdensome red tape that drives up costs and hurts Missouri families.”

In April, Blunt welcomed EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to the Thomas Hill Energy Center in Clifton Hill, Mo., to hear firsthand how the WOTUS rule and other massive regulations were impacting Missourians. Earlier that month, Blunt spoke during the Missouri State University’s 2017 Agriculture Forum, where he praised President Trump’s Executive Order instructing the EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to review and reconsider the WOTUS rule.
