On August 15, 2018, Missouri Farm Bureau’s Political Action Committee endorsed State Senator Sandy Crawford for re-election in the 28th Senatorial District. Trustees of the Missouri Farm Bureau West Central Regional Endorsement Committee representing the 28th District interviewed Crawford and her general election opponent Joe Poor in Sedalia. After hearing statements from each candidate and questioning them on their positions, the trustees voted unanimously to endorse Crawford.
Crawford was first elected to the Senate in August 2017 in a special election to fill the unexpired seat of now-Governor Mike Parson, who had been elected Lieutenant Governor in the November 2016 election. She served in the House of Representatives from 2010-2016 and previously worked in banking for 30 years. Crawford has a 97% voting record with Farm Bureau.
“Senator Crawford has been a consistent supporter of farmers and rural interests during her time in Jefferson City,” said Gary Noakes, Missouri Farm Bureau PAC trustee. “She is always seeking input and listening to our needs and concerns. Senator Crawford has proven herself to be a friend of Missouri farmers.”
Trustees are selected by their county Farm Bureau organizations. They interview the candidates running in the general election, review voting records and seek their positions on issues prior to voting on endorsements.
