Missouri’s job growth outpaces the nation; DED releases July 2017 Jobs Report

According to seasonally adjusted data released today by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the state’s unemployment rate for July was 3.8 percent. July’s rate represents a significant improvement over this time last year. It is a whole percentage point lower than it was in 2016 and three percentage points lower than it was in July 2012.

Over the month, Missouri’s nonfarm payroll employment grew by 14,100 jobs.

Since the start of the administration, Missouri’s nonfarm payroll employment (seasonally adjusted) has increased by 26,100 jobs. Missouri’s rate of job growth over the six-month period outpaced the national average and the number of nonfarm payroll employment for July in the state is at a record high with 2,903,100 jobs.
