The Arc of Missouri will be hosting their annual conference on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Columbia. This year’s conference topic will be on managed care as it relates to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

Join us at the one-day conference it to learn how this will affect the I/DD population. Individuals with disabilities, their families and service providers are highly encouraged to attend to see how it will change the Missouri health care process that we know today. The event will be held on Sept. 10, at the PeachTree Banquet Center in Columbia from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. Pre-registration is required.

You will hear from families in other states that have already implemented managed care and how it is affecting them. Nationally recognized speakers at the conference include:

Phoenix, Arizona • Matt Fletcher: Executive Director, Interhab, Lenexa Kansas • Val Huhn: Division Director, Missouri Department of Mental Health • Vicky Davidson: Executive Director, Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council

Managed care is a system of health care in which patients agree to visit only certain doctors & hospitals, and the cost of treatment is monitored by a managing company. While the intent is to reduce costs and better utilize health services, the implementation process can be complicated and difficult. This one-day conference will appeal to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, those in the social services field, home health agencies, mental health professionals, legislators and others who support individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities.

Pre-Register online at: arcofmo.eventbrite.com. Online registration is open until September 6. Seating is limited, so reserve your seat today. Ticket prices (which includes lunch) is $5 for self-advocates; $15 for family and personal attendants; and $85 for professionals.
