In June of 2018, I suffered a stroke while at home. My husband transported me to Cedar County Memorial Hospital. The care I received in the ER, from the clerk, the nursing staff and Dr. Craig Wamsley was outstanding and saved me from a devastating outcome. I was stabilized and transported to Kansas City, where I spent six days, and then came back to Cedar County Memorial Hospital for swingbed and rehab for four days before going home. I also received my outpatient physical therapy at the hospital.

I cannot thank the staff of this hospital enough for the care they gave, which allowed my recovery to be successful. I am also an employee, and these people have become family rather than just work associates.

This tax levy vote is essential to assure the continued services of Cedar County Memorial Hospital. The loss of our local hospital would be a terrible consequence for our community, from both a medical perspective and the loss of the second largest employer. The requested increase is miniscule in relation to the ever-increasing costs of providing excellent care for our patients and employment opportunities for everyone.

Our community cannot afford to not pass this levy. We need our hospital. I know I might not be here if not for the care and commitment I received.
