Mark your calendars for this Thursday night, June 9, for a scholarship concert to be held at the Opera House Theatre at 7:00 p.m. The Circle S Boys “AND FRIENDS” will be bringing you some of the finest traditional bluegrass in this area. The band is based out of the El Dorado Springs area. The “Boys” consist of players from various parts of Southwest Missouri. The core group, who have been friends for many years, took form from the Circle S Bluegrass Jams.

Ron Swopes, El Dorado Springs, on upright bass and vocals, spends his days at Circle S Feed. Larry Smith, banjo and vocals, owns and operates Village Music in Stockton along with his son Brent Smith, on guitar, mandolin and vocals. Joining the band, are Joe Smith of Lamar adding some phenomenal dobro leads and backup; and rounding out the group is Mike Clayton, of Bolivar, with some blazing fiddle licks and singing a song or two.

All members of the band are very versatile and are well known throughout the Southwest Missouri area as most of them are involved in other bands and have played multiple venues throughout the four state area.

So come on down and support a good cause and help support your local entertainers and the Opera House Scholarship fund. Admission is $7 in advance and $10 at the door. Advance tickets are available at Allison Quick Lube, Fugate Motors and Mid Missouri Bank.
