After an executive session on Thursday, Sept. 14, in which the El Dorado Springs R-II School Board hired Shannon Perry and Marlene Dean as part-time Title 1 teachers, the regular meeting began.

All School Board members were present – Darrell Eason, Benny Brower, Chad Whitesell, Greg Beydler, Terry Shepard, Mark Burley and Josh Floyd along with Superintendent Mark Koca and Board Secretary Tanya Molz.

Koca gave an enrollment comparison over the past 12 years. Twelve years ago the total school enrollment, K-12, was 1,254. This year it is 1,161, an improvement over the last two years. Koca mentioned the 5th grade class which is the largest in 12 years, is at 106.

Koca said that there will be a bid opening on Sept. 26 on part of the construction project.

At the end of the meeting, he said that he has wanted to build a drive that would include parking on the east side of the football field. He said there would be a lot of fill from the construction project and thought that would be a good use for it.
