Are you concerned about memory loss? Want to find out how your memory is now and for future comparison?

Care Connection for Aging Services will conduct free, confidential memory screenings. The screenings will take place at 10 a.m. June 5, the El Dorado Springs Senior Center at 604 S. Forest in El Dorado Springs and at 10 a.m. June 6, at the Korth Center at 309 W. Englewood in Stockton.

“The screenings can be the first step to a proper diagnosis and treatment – and the care you might need,” said Marilyn Gunter, Director of Care Management. “For others, the screening could provide peace of mind.”

Cedar County Care Manager Melanie Shinn will provide the screenings that test participants’ recall to see if they are experiencing any type of memory issue. If issues exist, Shinn will recommend that the participant see his or her doctor and will offer to contact the physician about the test results.

The National Memory Screening Program is an initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

The Cedar County centers are two of 23 locations operated by Care Connection for Aging Services, a non-profit area agency on aging serving 13 counties. Its mission is to provide resources and services that empower people to create healthy aging experiences. For more information, call 1-800-748-7826.
