The Show-Me State Games, Missouri’s Olympic-style sports festival, is now accepting registration for more than 40 different events for all ages and skill levels.  The 2017 Games will take place on June 16-18, July 21-23 and July 28-30 in Columbia, Mo.

The Show-Me State Games is the largest event of its type in the country, which more than 20,000 athletes competing in the 2016 summer Games.  Thousands of spectators and hundreds of volunteers attend the Show-Me State Games.

For 2017,  the Games is adding a new event, MoNASP Archery, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation. The Archery event is for high school students and will take place at Battle High School on Saturday, June 17. A full list of sports is here – https://www.smsg.org/sports.php/.  This year the Show-Me State Games is  hosting the Missouri State Senior Games for athletes age 50 and older.  The event is scheduled for June 14-18 also in Columbia. and offers more than 20 sporting events.

This spring, the Show-Me State Games has been traveling the state with Shelter Insurance® for Torch Run events in eight cities throughout Missouri in an effort to raise awareness of the Games.  The Torch was in Joplin, Springfield, Kansas City, St. Joseph, Hannibal, St. Charles, Cape Girardeau and St. Louis. The Torch will be in Jefferson City and Columbia on July 21, reaching its final destination – Mizzou Arena – for the Opening Ceremonies kicking off at 7 p.m. The Audrey Walton Opening Ceremonies will feature a parade of athletes and lighting of the cauldron.

“Whether as an athlete, coach, volunteer or spectator, there is a way for all Missourians to be a part of the Show-Me STATE GAMES, an event promoting health, fitness, family and fun,” said Emily Lorenz, marketing coordinator for the Show-Me State Games.
