Treasure Hunt Thrift Store announces expanded hours
The Treasure Hunt Thrift Store is pleased to announce that it will be open two additional days each week. Beginning Saturday, Dec. 2, the store will be open every Monday and Saturday of the week from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Beginning Dec. 1 the Store will be open for the many people whose work schedule only allows them to shop on Mondays or Saturdays.
The store is located at 109 West Broadway, El Dorado Springs. These additional hours are made possible with the help of the El Dorado Springs Ministerial Alliance.
The store provides the community with low cost clothing and household items and provides operating funds for the Arc of Hope Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter. Beginning Dec. 2 the Store will be open for the many people whose work schedule only allows them to shop on Mondays or Saturdays.
Although the Treasure Hunt Thrift Store opened its doors in 2014, its roots go back to a community resource center that began helping the community in 2002. The resource center known as the L.I.A. House provided free clothing and monthly meals to area residents. As a rising need to house women became apparent, in 2007, the same people who operated the resource center began to house women at the ARC of Hope Women’s Shelter. In order to raise funds for the shelter, it became necessary to sell donated clothing and household items at the Thrift Store.
The store still provides free items to women and children at the shelter whenever necessary. The Treasure Hunt Thrift Store is owned by W.I.N.G.S. Refuge, a non-profit 501©3 corporation. It continues its legacy and dedication to helping both the shelter and the community at large. Since the beginning of 2017, 32 women and 25 children have taken refuge at the shelter.
If you would like to donate clothing or household items, please take them to the store during business hours. If you would like to make a cash donation to the women’s shelter, you may do so by mailing in a donation to Wings Refuge, P. O. Box 184, El Dorado Springs, MO 64744 or make a donation online at wingsrefuge.com. The El Dorado Springs Ministerial Alliance also takes donations to help residents with temporary housing and utility payments.
