Carol Jean Cerny, 41, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City following a lengthy illness.  Carol was born July 12, 1976, in El Dorado Springs to Kenneth Charles and Ada Leola (Hawkins) Cerny.

Carol grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada High School graduating with the Class of 1995. She then attended Cosmetology School and graduated from there in 1996. Carol worked at various jobs including Nevada Rehabilitation Center, “On My Own” in Nevada, Southwest Psychiatric Rehab in El Dorado Springs, and Dunbrooke in El Dorado Springs. She enjoyed walking and being in the outdoors. Her love in life was taking care of and spending time with her children. Carol lived in Nevada for 20 years and has resided in El Dorado Springs for the past 18 years.

Carol is survived by three children – Timothy Wyrick of the home, Brandon Snodgrass, El Dorado Springs, and Darren Snodgrass, El Dorado Springs; mother, Ada Cerny of Schell City; one brother, Christopher Cerny (Jacque) of Sheldon; four nieces and nephews – Austin, Jessica, Brysen and  Jazzalynn; several adopted nieces and nephews, extended family, and her fiancée, Fred Hunt, of the home. Carol was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Cerny Sr.; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Louise Goff; and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Bonna Cerny.

Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, in the Schell City Christian Church. A graveside memorial service followed in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Schell City with Pastor Tom Haynes and Josh Lamb officiating. The eulogy was read by Oscar Garza.
