Carol Rosalie Julian, 82, El Dorado Springs, died on Sept. 14, 2017, after a long struggle with congestive heart failure. She was born on Jan. 7, 1935, to Alfred and Gladys (Andes) Preston in Independence, MO.

On Feb. 11, 1952, she was united in marriage with Arthur Junior Julian. Together they raised three children – Michael Lee, Jerry Ray and Lucille Marie.

Carol was a mother, homemaker and a farmer’s wife, which meant she was always cooking, cleaning, canning, gardening and helping her husband in the field. She kept a beautiful home and was an amazing cook. Cooking for people was one of her many ways of showing her love. Her grandchildren always told her that she should open a restaurant – that’s how much everyone loved her food.

She was a wonderful storyteller, and her big, boisterous laugh would make everyone else laugh, too. She spent her entire life taking care of others and making sure everyone felt loved and appreciated. She remembered everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries and never failed to send a card or give a little gift.

Carol had an unwavering faith in God, attending church when she was in good health.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Julian, and wife, Stacy; daughter, Lucille Cooney; daughter-in-law, Pam Julian; grandchildren – Errin, Jana, Riley, Jaime, Jared, Dustin, Shane, Janea, Clint and Desiaree; niece, Cheryl; nephews, Steve and Ronnie; many great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur; her son, Michael Lee; an infant son at birth; as well as her parents, brother and sister.

Grandma and Grandpa were so proud of the family and the love they created. She was fond of looking around at family gatherings of all her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, and saying to Grandpa, “Just look at what we started.” We hope she’s saying that very thing to him now as they are reunited and looking down on us celebrating her wonderful life.

“All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on – in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here… A death ends a life, not a relationship.” (from Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom)

Services were held on Sunday, Sept. 17, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. Burial followed in Sandridge Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral home.

Pallbearers were Chris Julian, Mitch Julian, Darin Leonard, Brad Leonard, Jeff McDonald and Dan Compton. Honorary pallbearers were: Riley Julian, Jared Julian, Brian Chism, Shane Cooney, Dustin Cooney and Alan Hooper.
