Della B. Carpenter, 84, Kansas City, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, in St. Lukes Northland Hospital, Kansas City. Della was born in Harwood on Aug. 17, 1932, to Albert and Lucile (Lepp) Stark. She spent her childhood in the Schell City-Harwood area graduating from Walker High School in the class of 1951.

On Jan. 3, 1953, she was married to Donald Carpenter. They were married for over 62 years before his death in 2015.

They were the parents of two children and lived most of their married life in the Kansas City area. She was an active member of the Northland Cathedral Assembly of God Church as long as her health permitted.

Donald and Della enjoyed camping and traveling, spending many summers at Warsaw.

Besides her husband and parents, Della was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Marcella Pratt; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Stark and Maxine Stark; and brothers-in-law, Alan Carpenter and Gary Bandy. She is survived by her children, Sheryl Pratt (Rick) and Mark Carpenter (Dolores); three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; six brothers – Al Plummer (Mary Ann), Woodrow Stark (Cora), Jerry Stark, Kent Stark, Dale Stark (Janice) and Galen Stark (Shirley); and sisters – Maxine Carpenter and Arlene Bandy.

Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone with burial in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City.
