Donna Elizabeth Truitt Walker, age 61, El Dorado Springs, passed from this life surrounded by her family on July 3, 2017.

She was born in Lamesa, TX, on March 25, 1956, the first-born daughter of Walter and Barbara Truitt. She attended South Elementary School in Lamesa, TX, until moving to El Dorado Springs in 1966, where she entered the fourth grade.

Donna was an avid horse enthusiast and enjoyed representing the Bishop 4-H Club from the Montevallo community. She demonstrated horsemanship in both competition and performance.

Donna graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1974. She began the amazing journey of creating a home and family when she married her high school sweetheart, Bruce Allen Walker, on Oct. 26, 1974. She cherished her role as a mother and later the blessings of being “Marmee” to her grandchildren.

She was an advocate for education and the care of children and aspired to open her own day care business. She opened Crayon Campus, which she operated for 10 years providing a quality educational experience for preschoolers. Donna then began to work for Parents as Teachers, educating parents in child development and serving young families for 15 years. She then attained her cherished role as a Kindergarten teacher for the El Dorado Springs Christian Schools where she joyfully taught for three years, until her passing.

Donna touched the lives of many children and parents through her various volunteer ministries. She was involved with MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and Happy Hollow Bible Camp. She volunteered as a Bible Class teacher and spoke at numerous retreats for women’s ministries. She had a tremendous compassion for children and took joy in sharing her love of Christ with everyone she encountered.
