Doris Marie Steward

Doris Marie Steward, 86, El Dorado Springs, daughter of Gene and Laura Bulman, was born on August 23, 1932, in Waukon, IA, and departed this life on April 30, 2019.

Doris was a resident of the area since 1993, moving from Kansas City, MO, after a career at Hallmark Cards in the credit and collections department.

Doris and Bob were mutual acquaintances at Christ Lutheran Church in Platte Woods. They married in 1991, and had many wonderful years together. She enjoyed baking, gardening, quilting, sewing “potato bakers”, public television and reading jokes on facebook. She was very involved in her church’s activities, served as LWML president, made many of the banners and loved making new members feel welcome.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard, Ralph, Clem and Tom Bulman; and step-son, Dennis Emperley.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Luann Nielsen (David); son, Gary Green (Kathie); step-son, Jimmie Baker (Leanne); step-daughter, Karen Schilling (Roger); many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; sister, Ann Spence; brother, Jim Bulman (Linda); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held Friday, May 3, in St. Andrew Lutheran Church Stockton, with Pastor Ronnie Backs officiating.

Final disposition was cremation. Interment was at Christ Lutheran Church, Platte Woods, under direction of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs. www.sheldonfh.com.
