Gary Thomas Norman, 58, of El Dorado Springs, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2019. Gary was born Feb. 19, 1961, in Wichita, KS to Kenneth and Blanche (Seeley) Norman. He lived most of his childhood in Stockton eventually coming to work in El Dorado Springs, where he met the love of his life, Sherri.

Gary married Sherri Fletcher on Jan. 25, 1980. They were blessed with a very happy 39-year marriage. They had four children, and later added two daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. Gary was infinitely proud of his grandchildren, and although he never enjoyed the crowds, he was always there supporting them. You would typically find him leaning on his truck or a fence watching their many events.

Gary commuted back and forth to Kansas City for approximately 30 years to work as a commercial drywaller. He was currently enjoying his retirement, with help from his faithful companion, Remington. He was trying his hand at many farm related activities including raising cattle and creating a deer rich environment for his grandchildren to hunt. He also made frequent trips to Sherri’s daycare to visit his daycare grandbabies.

The two things that Gary loved the most were his family and God.  He had an unwavering faith, which he passed on to his family.  He was a very private man, but put his faith on in baptism last summer.  His faith had grown stronger every day since.  In fact, he recently started sharing daily devotions and scriptures with Sherri and his kids.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Blanche Norman; father-in-law, Donnie Fletcher; and a brother, Roland (Roley).

He is survived by his wife, Sherri; children – Kenny and his wife, DaNae; Kurt and his wife Jeanie; Klarisa, and Kaitlyn; five grandchildren – Kolten, Parker, Tevor, Kaydence and Riley, all of El Dorado Springs; four siblings – Dave and wife, Cheryl, of El Dorado Springs, Tim and wife, Sherice, of Stockton, Don and wife, Stacey, of Kansas City and Debby and husband, Jeff, of Broken Arrow, OK; brother-in-law, Randy Fletcher, and wife. Carmen, of El Dorado Springs.

Graveside services were held in Love Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 10, with Damon Welton officiating. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons – Kolten, Parker, Tevor, Kaydence and Riley Norman.
