Jimmie Dale Ewing, 83, of El Dorado Springs, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2018, after a long battle with cancer.

Jimmie was born Nov. 11, 1934, to Vernon and Fay (Hamlin) Ewing in Ashland, NE.  After finishing high school, Jimmie served four years in the United States Navy. Three years and eight months of this was spent on the USS Princeton during the Korean War.

After his discharge from the Navy, he moved to Colorado, where he worked various jobs including landscaping and auto-body. Later in life he moved to Missouri. Here he met Marcella Helt Collins. They were united in marriage in April, 1980, and remained together until her passing in April, 2007.

Jimmie loved to travel. He spent many months traveling across the country in his RV, visiting friends and family and just sightseeing.

He enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends at the coffee shop. Other hobbies included gardening, cooking and always tinkering with things.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Ewing; mother, Fay (Hamlin) Ewing; wife, Marcella Ewing; brothers, Valgene Ewing and Harold Ewing; son, Mark Ewing; daughter, Norma Collins; and grandson, Ryan Sheridan.

Survivors include, daughters – Michelle, Debbie, Dixie and Denise; sons: Donald (Margo) Ewing of Durango, CO, and Kevin (Becky) Collins of El Dorado Springs; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, in Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Brent Bland officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Compassus and left at the funeral home.
