Lacel Ewing Bland, 84, passed away peacefully on Nov. 14, 2018.

Lacel, the first son of Ewing and Lena Bland, was born Feb. 6, 1934, in Cedar County and grew up on a working farm in Black Jack. After graduating El Dorado Springs High School in May 1951, he joined the Bureau of Land Management as a surveyor. In December 1955, Lacel married Earnestine (Best) and they immediately left for Ely, NV, to survey the Western States. Lacel and Earnestin lived in 11 states before permanently settling in Reno, NV. Lacel described his best career decision as retirement. He retired as Chief of Cadastral Survey with BLM in 1989.

Lacel was a life-long hunting, trapping and fishing enthusiast. He loved camping in the Ruby Mountains, the thrill of the hunt and the joy of bragging about his trophies to anyone who would listen and look at his photos. He loved boasting about the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

Lacel is survived by his wife, Earnestine; brothers, Randal and Dennis D; his children, Cheryl (Ed) Crawford, Ken (Connie) Bland, Sandy (Steve) Shulze and Kelly (Annette) Bland. He is additionally survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 26, 2018, in the Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary, Reno, NV.
