Marion Kenneth Messick, 86, of Springfield, formerly of El Dorado Springs, passed away at Cox South Hospital on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Marion was born May 27, 1931, in Cedar County to Earl and Eunice (Schmidt) Messick. He attended El Dorado Springs High School.

At the age of 21, Marion married Sylvia (Covington) Messick. To this union one child was born, Kenneth Messick. He later married Sharron (Brick) Messick, who passed away in January, 2017.

Marion was well known for the time he spent running the local Dairy Maid Restaurant he owned in El Dorado Springs. During this time he acquired a love for watches and started attending local watch shows. He spent his later years in Springfield, to be closer to his son and grandchildren. Some of Marion’s favorite things included trips with Sharron, traveling to watch shows and playing with his beloved Yorkies.

Preceding Marion in death were: his wife, Sharron; his son, Kenneth; his parents, Earl and Eunice; his brother, Marvin; and his sister, Maxine.

Survivors include: his two grandchildren, Josh Messick of Springfield and Holly (Messick) Smith and husband, Casey, of Okinawa, Japan; one great-grandchild, Gia Messick; one brother, Gene Messick, and family; and one sister, Karren Neden, and family.

Services were held on Monday, May 21, in Bland-Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Dana Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nevada, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Josh Messick, Ryan Neden, Gary Brick, Harel Griffith, Dave Copeland and Lee Covington.
