Hoffman, Mike

Michael D. Hoffman, 61, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016. Mike was born on Feb. 2, 1955, in Manhattan, KS, the son of Glenn and Annabelle Hoffman. He started school in Zeandale, KS, then moved with his family to El Dorado Springs.

Mike met the love of his life, Kathy Gibbs. To this relationship three children were born – Kendall, Nicole and Janna.

Mike enjoyed making things work on “his timetable.” He really enjoyed fixing the unfixable and tackling things no one else would. Visiting, hanging out and playing with his grandchildren were his greatest joys. When he was younger he worked at the family saw mill. Most of his life was spent as an all-around mechanic. At the time of his passing Mike worked for Jerry Jones.

Preceding Mike in death were his parents, Glenn and Annabelle; his stepmother, LouAnn; his brothers, Darrell Hoffman and Mac McFarland.

Survivors include Kathy of the home; three children – Kendall Gibbs of El Dorado Springs,  Nicole Gibbs and life partner, Melissa Williams, of El Dorado Springs, and Janna Penn and husband, Dewayne, of El Dorado Springs; 10 grandchildren – Kelsey Rene, Blake, Victoria, Tannon, Allaura, Devon, Kelsey Marie, Kayla, Alexia and Alana; three brothers – Don and wife, Brenda, of American Somoa, Kenneth and wife, Pam, of Webb City and David and wife, Jennifer, of Newtonia, MO; one sister, Vicky White, of Granby; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Hoffman of Stockton and Kate McFarland of El Dorado Springs, and many more family and friends.

Services began at 2:30 p.m.  Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Bro. Everett Smith officiating. Burial followed in Harwood Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Bradley Hoffman, Jason Spencer, Kevin Bland, Kevin Scott, Lofty Gibbs, Robert Wayne Gibbs and D.J. Reeder. Honorary pallbearers were Jack O’Brien, Tannon Gibbs and Corey Hoffman.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to help the family with expenses and left at the funeral home.
