Nelda Jane Coleman was born on Dec. 27, 1939 in Cedar County to Willis Newton Julian and Reberta Myrl (Richardson) Julian. She departed this earth on February 28, 2019. She is survived by her two brothers, Dalis Julian and Sharron of Greenfield, and Myrl Julian and Dawn of Milford; four nephews, Duane, Jeff, Gordon and Jason Julian; two nieces, Peggy Purtle and Gena Julian; and many cousins and friends.

Nelda attended Green Ridge County School through the eighth grade, and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. She moved to the Kansas City area after graduation attending Draughns Business College and was employed by Business Mens Assurance Company for 15 years. She married James Helt in 1959 and resided in the Kansas City area until 1974, when she and her husband purchased a farm, south of El Dorado Springs near her parents.

Nelda worked for Cottey College in Nevada, Heartland Hospital in Nevada and the Telephone Company in El Dorado Springs. In 1988 she began employment with her brother Myrl at Julian Ready Mix in El Dorado Springs. She retired at age 73 due to illness.

Nelda married Robert Coleman in 1989. They traveled to many destinations, such as the Bahamas, Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii and all over the United States. One of Nelda’s favorite vacations was a trip to southern Mexico with her niece Gena Julian. She loved horses and enjoyed trail rides when she was on the farm.

She was active in the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, participating in fund raising benefits and charities she served in several offices, and assisted in Eagles bingo for numerous years. Nelda served on the Great Oaks Country Club Board and she attended the Community Church in El Dorado Springs.

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Coleman on May 17, 2018.

Service was Wednesday, March 6, 2019, under the direction of Sheldon Funeral Home with interment at Whitehall Cemetery.
