Nina Collene Berning, 58, of El Dorado Springs, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018. Nina was born Jan. 13, 1960, in Hawthrone, CA. She lived in Thousand Oaks, CA, until she moved to El Dorado Springs.

Nina was a member of First Christian Church of El Dorado Springs. She loved to help her community by working at Community Springs Nursing Home. She started off as a CNA, Med Tech and Restorative Aide in 2002 and excelling in work ethics became the Activities Director. She became a well-known and loved woman in the community.

Survivors include her husband, Rick Berning. of El Dorado Springs; her father, Lonnie Vann of El Dorado Springs; her children – Jodi Castro, Jamie and Andrew Miller, Kenny and Kendra Wayne, Tasha and Jimmy Loane, Travis and Alyssa Berning and Branden Berning; 16 grandchildren; and three sisters – Bobbie Joe Vann, Ruby Britton and Judy Vann.

Nina would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not return. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus and a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, gardening and reading to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her husband and children to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated.

Memorial services for Nina Bering were held on Saturday, Feb. 10, in Bland-Hackleman Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
