Opal Christine (Clarkson) Hooper, 83, of El Dorado Springs, passed away at Community Springs on Tuesday morning, Oct. 29, 2019.

Christine was born Jan. 14, 1936, in Jackson County, the daughter of James Henry Clarkson and Jeannettie Ann (Allee) Clarkson.  She graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1954 and also attended Missouri State University.

Christine married Walford Francis Hooper on May 26, 1961.  To their union four children were born.

Christine worked for some time at Unity Village in Lee’s Summit and was a Red Cross volunteer in the nurse’s office at school.  She worked 31 years at Community Springs Nursing Home, the last few years as the recreational director.  She loved her job.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and taking care of her flowers and plants.  She loved bowling and participated in numerous leagues.  She attended First Baptist Church.

Preceding Christine in death were her parents; an infant son, James Allen; one brother, Charles Clarkson; and two sisters, Ann Elizabeth Courtney and Dorothy Lou Harter.

Survivors include her three children – Bruce Hooper and wife, Leisha, of Walker, Pam (Hooper) Hutchison of Wichita, KS, and Kent Hooper and wife, Yvonna, of Nevada; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grand daughters; and one sister, Emma Jo Helms of Creighton.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery with Bro. Don Barger officiating.  Arrangements were under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
