Pearl Louise Hoffman, 86, El Dorado Springs, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at COX South Neuro Trauma ICU in Springfield. Pearl was born Jan. 13, 1931 in Vernon County to Ben F. and Marie Shaffer. She married Ronald Hoffman on May 26, 1951, in Eureka Springs, AR, and he survives of the home.

Normally referred to as “Tooter” by her friends and relatives, Pearl was a farmer’s daughter who graduated from Walker High School. Pearl traveled many miles with her husband, Ronald, Air Force Master Sergeant, including Alaska, Florida, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. Pearl traveled to Alaska with Dennis in January of 1963 to be with Ronald who was stationed in Alaska in the US Air Force and that is where they made their home.

Pearl had both a passion and talent working as a seamstress where she worked for both Nelly Don and Key Work Clothes in Nevada. She was also retired from working at the Fram Corporation in Nevada.

Pearl was a dedicated mother and career woman but never lost her mid-western touch. Her values and outlook on life were consistent with her love of El Dorado Springs and Nevada.

Pearl and Ron were a dedicated couple to each other, to their family and to their heritage. Memories of them together will be treasured by many for their love, devotion to each other and for over 66 years of marriage. Pearl’s kindness and her sense of humor kept Ron on his toes as she was a bit of a prankster. And her wit will remain as a legacy to many. There is no death on earth as long as memories remain. Pearl left a living legacy.

Pearl always enjoyed going to church but always had a special place in her heart for the Pape church where she was baptized in her bath tub by her pastor from the Pape church.

Pearl loved to dance and listen to country music, especially her favorite songs “The Old Rugged Cross” and ‘The Great Speckled Bird”.

In addition to her husband, Ron, she is survived by her son Dennis Hoffman and his wife, Cyndi Hoffman, Juneau, AK. Pearl had two loving granddaughters, Jessica Hitchenor-Hoffman and her husband, Ross Hitchenor, Great Britain, and Nichole Bergen-Hoffman, and her husband Shawn Bergen, Salem, OR; and three great grandchildren –  Jaxon Bergen, Lukas Bergen and Ziggy Valentine Hitchenor; one brother-in-law, Claud Hoffman, Ramona, CA; sister-in-law, Wanda Heistand, and her husband, Myron, El Dorado Springs; a special nephew, Anthony Hoffman, Anchorage, AK, (Pearl had a very special relationship with Tony and considered him like a son); two nieces, Claudia Hoffman Miller and her husband, Larry, Ramona, CA, and Rhonda Williams, El Dorado Springs; and a great-niece, Randa Williams, El Dorado Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Bernice Hoffman; and her father-in-law, George L. Hoffman

Services began at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, in Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Bro. Dennis Wallen officiating. Interment followed in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery.
