Velma Earlene Priemer, 86, of Independence, MO, died on Saturday, April 28 2018, in Independence, Jackson County, MO. She was born Oct. 23 1931, to Benjamin Harrison Cochran and Lola Carmen (Smith) Cochran in El Dorado Springs (Speedwell Township), Saint Clair County, MO. Earlene married George William Priemer on Dec. 10, 1949, in Independence.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Blond and Merle Cochran; sisters, Evelyn Green and Wilma Howard. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rhonda Short; Debra and Richard Turner; and Brenda and Brian Conner; grandchildren, Randy Howe, Kendra Crider, Russell Howe, and Blake Conner; great grandchildren, Rayne and Rebel Howe; Maverick, Montana, and Silver Crider; and Bentley Conner; and numerous other relatives.

Earlene was a member of the East Independence Church of Christ. She retired from Sears, loved to crochet, and gave big hugs, as attested by many.

Visitation at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, with funeral at 2 p.m. officiated by Earlene’s great nephew, Pastor Rex Green, of Edmonson Baptist Church, Lincoln, MO. Her body will be laid to rest next to her husband, George, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
