Virginia Dell (Mistler) Bland, 92, of El Dorado Springs, passed away in Cedar County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday morning, July 23, 2019. Virginia was born March 11, 1927, in Monegaw Springs, the daughter of Bernice Mistler and Hazel (Moore) Mistler.

At the age of eight Virginia lost her mother and was raised by her aunt, Waneta Allis, who welcomed her into their home in Appleton City. Most of her school years were spent in Appleton City Schools, where she talked of such fond memories, but graduated from Roscoe High School. After high school she worked at International Shoe Factory and Sac Osage Electric Coop.

Virginia married George Bland in 1955. They were married 41 years before George’s passing in 1996. Shortly after they were married they moved to Los Angeles where their three children were born. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and served faithfully in the Church of God (Holiness) throughout her life in El Monte, CA, and El Dorado Springs.

In 1972 they returned “home” to El Dorado Springs where they owned and operated the C&H Motel. It was during this time she found her true calling, selling real estate. She loved her job and worked until she was 92. They owned and operated other businesses in El Dorado Springs and later built motels in Butler and Aurora.

She loved to cook often trying new recipes she cut from magazines or newspaper, most of them desserts.

Even with her busy life, her family always came first and she loved the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George; her parents; and her brothers – Billy Mistler, Bob Mistler,and Norman Mistler.

Survivors include her three children – Randy Bland and wife, Jan, Larry Bland and wife, Cindy, Teresa Hoover and husband, Allen; grandchildren – Nick and Courtney Bland and family, Ben Bland and family, Tiffany and Matt Woody and family, Justin and Cara Hoover and family, Kellen and Laura Hoover and family and Kanon and Audra Hoover; and numerous great- grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday, July 27, in the Church of God (Holiness) with Joe Trussell and Brent Bland officiating. Music was provided by Jeremy Oehring. Interment followed in Love Cemetery under direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Nick Bland, Ben Bland, Matt Woody, Kellen Hoover, Kanon Hoover, and Justin Hoover.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the El Dorado Christian School and left at the funeral home.
