Wesley Raymond Scholes, 90, of Jerico Springs, passed away Aug. 8, 2018. Raymond was born Jan. 30,1928, near Sheldon the son of John (Shorty) and Lola Fay Scholes.

Upon graduating from Sheldon High School, he enlisted in the army and served in Japan during World War II. After returning from the war, Wesley farmed and raised cattle west of Jerico Springs for 67 years. During that time, he had several hobbies such as raising buffalo, white tail deer and elk. Raymond continued to serve the community while farming by serving on the Sac Osage Electric Board of Directors for 34 years and the Stockton R1 School District Board.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Newman of Tucson, AZ, and Debra Scholes of Stockton; two grandchildren: Chris Newman of Overland Park, KS, and Mike Newman of Omaha, NE; and four great-grandchildren that were the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Doris Jeanette (Higgins) Scholes; a daughter, Cathy Janene Scholes; his parents; and six siblings – Lorne Richard Scholes, Melvin Lloyd Scholes, Herbert Gene Scholes, Almeta Elisabeth Eisenhour, Pearleta Florence Larson and Helen Jane Mangin.

Services were held Sunday, Aug. 12, in the Bland-Brumback chapel with burial following in Brasher cemetery. The family requests rather than flowers that donations be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
