William David “Bill” Hutsell, 79, was born on Feb. 26, 1938, in Smithville to James George and Eula Lee (Thedford) Hutsell. He passed away on Nov. 29, 2017, in Nevada after a brief illness.

Bill was the oldest of six children. He attended school in El Dorado Springs and was always a good student near the top of his class. He graduated in the Class of 1956.

Bill attended the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1961. He was president of his Scholarship Hall and was their pastry chef for four years. Bill also attended the Kansas City Art Institute evening classes and sang with a Kansas City choral group for several years.

He was a pharmacist with the Getz Pharmacy Medical Building for 50 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother. Jim, in 1995; sister, Carolyn Green Neff; in 2015; and a nephew, James Charles “Butch” Hutsell.

He is survived by a sister, Marilyn Gannaway, of Nevada; two brothers, Bob Hutsell, and wife, Virginia, of Blue Springs and Gary Hutsell and wife, Vicki, of El Dorado Springs; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hutsell; brother-in-law, Bob Neff; and nieces and nephews – Bobbi York, Gayla Hutsell, Anna Russo, Janelle Green Fugate, Brian Hutsell, David Green, Dustin Gannaway, and Lindsay Tanner. Bill will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 4, in Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, wih Rev. Brent Bland officiating,Music was  “In The Garden,” “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Honosrary casketbearers were Donald Schanker, Barb Schanker, Val VanWinkel, Dr. Barbara Nenno, Don Williams and Patricia Howe.

Final disposition was cremation. Interment was in El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under direction of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs. www.sheldonfh.com.
