We got some rain this past week and have seen flows increase on Truman Lake. Despite the low flows on Lake of the Ozark snaggers are harvesting fish, especially lower in the lake below MM72.

With the rains we’ve had we have more water coming down the Marais des Cygnes into Truman.  With the increase in flow this past weekend we saw some fish run up the Marais des Cygnes River. These were a mostly small males, which is expected – as males will run first. When flows came down the fish moved back down towards the lake. If the flows continue we should see more of the larger females head this way.

They are calling for more rain this week, so we should see increased flows. Water temperatures are good, now we just need increased flows – the fish are ready.

Snaggers are continuing to catch several sublegal fish (30-34 inches), please get these fish back into the water unharmed immediately as these are the fish you will be harvesting in the future.

Thanks to all of the snaggers who reported harvesting tagged paddlefish.

As always, thanks to those who have shared their snagging stories – keep them coming, I really enjoy hearing from you.
