Gloria L. Maxwell, 83, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016, in Mercy Hospital ICU, Springfield. She was born July 22, 1932, in the Cedar County family home, the second of three children born to Herman and Violet Hertzberg.

She graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1950. She received her apprenticeship in Cosmetology under Lillian Sunderwirth. She worked for Lillian for many years before an early retirement due to developing rheumatoid arthritis. She loved people and loved taking care of her clients’ hair.

Gloria was united in marriage to Jerry N. Maxwell on April 23, 1961, and began their life in the El Dorado Springs Community. To this union a daughter was born. She was
