Mrs. Betty Jane Holland Spiva

Mrs. Betty Jane Elizabeth Spiva, 85, Joplin, departed this life on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at her residence, after a brief battle with cancer.

Betty entered this life on Dec. 9, 1929, in Jane, one of six children born to the late Irvie “Shorty” and Clarissa Ethel (Russell) Holland. She graduated from White Rock in 1945 and later in 1948 she was united in marriage to Max Spiva. To this union five children were born.

They resided in Kansas City before moving to Nevada in 1963. She retired in 1996 after 33 years as food service director with the Nevada R-V School District.

Betty has made her home in Joplin since 1999.

    William Roma McFarland, 54, El Dorado Springs, passed away in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, early Saturday morning, June 13, 2015, surrounded by his family. Mac was born June 24, 1960, in San Diego, CA, to Victor Walter and Lou Ann (Hartline) McFarland.

    Mac tragically lost his father at a very young age. In 1969, he and his mother and sister moved back home to El Dorado Springs, where his mother met and married Glenn Hoffman.

    John Stephen “Steve” Price, 66, of Bear Creek, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015, at his home in Bolivar. He was born Sept. 28, 1948, to John Howard and Virginia Price and was a proud older brother to his younger sibling, Kem.

    Mr. Smith served in the United States Navy four years.
