Elaine Baxter Elliott, 85, a longtime resident of Lathrop, passed away Sept. 13, 2014, at her home.

A service celebrating Elaine’s life was held Wednesday, Sept. 17, in Lathrop United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Lathrop Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.

Elaine was born April 26, 1929, in El Dorado Springs, the eldest of three children of Sid C. and Edith (Montgomery) Baxter. Along with her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Dorsey Elliott, in 2005, and brother, Sharon Sidney Baxter, in 1942.

She was the daughter of Walter John and Ferol (Dunaway) Jackson. Leaetta was delivered by her grandfather, Dr. L. T. Dunaway.     John Lewis Eslinger, 89, El Dorado Springs, departed this life at 2:40 p.m. Sept. 12, 2014, in Cedar County Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1924, to Thomas L. and Eunice Ellen (Hartline) Eslinger who both preceded him in death.

    He lived his entire life east of El Dorado Springs and was a retired farmer and stockman, being the fifth generation of his family living in Cedar County.
