Nova May Brackenridge

Nova May Brackenridge, 80, passed away July 19, 2015, in Ellett Memorial Hospital, Appleton City.

Nova was born July 6, 1935, in Cedar County to Samuel L. and Bessie E. (Lusk) Smith. She graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1953 and worked at the International Shoe Company, El Dorado Springs and the Kellman Tent Factory, Nevada.

She married James C. (J.C.) Brackenridge (son of Everett Nalley and Maude (Whitley) Brackenridge) on May 28, 1955. They made their home in El Dorado Springs. To this union, five children were born – Archie Ray Brackenridge, Vicki Diann McKinney, Nova Jalene Flint, Rickie Dean Brackenridge and Trent Lee Brackenridge.

    Lavale Fugate, 94, El Dorado Springs, passed away July 24, 2015, in Community Springs Healthcare. Lavale was born June 26, 1921, in Burnside, KY, the daughter of Rev. A.Z. and Delores (Jackson) Matthews. She attended Urbana High School (Skyline) and graduated in the class of 1938.

    Lavale married Virgil D. Fugate on June 10, 1940. They were married 56 years before Virgil’s passing in January 1996. Virgil and Lavale had three children.

    Edwin Jay Shaw

    Edwin Jay Shaw, 73, El Dorado Springs, passed away July 25, 2015, at his home. Edwin was born Aug. 13, 1941, to Wilbur A. and Nellie Lucille (Reedy) Shaw in El Dorado Springs.

    He served in the Army from 1964 through 1967.

    Edwin worked for some time as a security officer for YMCA and other businesses.

    Nova May Brackenridge

    Nova May Brackenridge, 80, Schell City, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, in Ellett Memorial Hospital, Appleton City.

    Services were scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, in the Schell City Christian Church.

    Interment followed in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Schell City, were under the direction of the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City.

    Ryan Lacey Lackey

    Ryan Lacey Lackey, 48, El Dorado Springs, passed away in his home July 5, 2015.

    Ryan was born in Independence. He graduated Lee’s Summit high school in the class of 1985.

    He resided off and on in San Francisco and Half Moon Bay, CA, for approximately 10 years eventually, moving back and residing in the Kansas City and Independence areas until moving to El Dorado Springs last year.
