Schell United Methodist Church closing in June

The Schell City/Harwood United Methodist Women held their rummage and bake sale Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14. They would like to thank everyone who came and brought things. This was their last sale as the Schell Church is closing at the end of June. The last service there will be June 19. Pastor Connie Locke will go to the Marionville United Methodist Church. She will start her new job on the 26th of June. She will really be missed in the community. The church and the United Methodist Women will have a going away dinner for her on the 12th of June at the Schell City Community Building at 12:45 with everyone invited to attend. The meat will be furnished. Everyone is to bring a dish.

    Retiree breakfast well attended

    Marilyn Entrikin said her two year old great-grandson, Chris, fell and cut his lip. Ask him about it and he will tell you all about his adventure. He got some stitches and he is very proud of them.

    Marilyn said a dozen retired state employees had breakfast Thursday at 54 Café. They all compared health problems and insurance coverage. These things are important as we get older.

    Speedy recovery to Kurt Motley

    The Schell City/Harwood United Methodist Women met Wednesday, April 20, at 4 p.m. at Madalyn’s Kitchen. Those present were Pastor Connie Locke, Jewell and Helen Ellerman, Madalyn Crocker and Ruth Ijams. President Helen Ellerman conducted the business meeting. She gave the devotion taken from Jeremiah 50:17-20. Pastor Locke had prayer and read from the prayer calendar. The purpose of United Methodist Women was repeated in unison.     Enjoying history in St. Clair County

    Marilyn Entrikin said she went on a bus trip, she had fun at the St. Clair County Museum. A gun site battle when one gangster and a Pinkton Detective where killed. Then they went to the cemetery where they were buried. Then the civil war battle stie. Then to the plantation house and its cemetery. They ate lunch at Smith’s Restaurant. Yummy. Its very history they forgot. She went to the cheese store in Osceola. Of course, she got some cheese.
