Jack Leon (Butch) Belcher, 64, Independence, was born May 18, 1948, to Elton and Lenore (Toddie) Belcher in El Dorado springs.
Butch departed from this life on Oct. 8, 2012, due to complications after a year long battle with cancer.
Butch graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1966 and entered the Navy two days later. He served three tours in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged in 1970.
Butch had many different jobs over the years and was a great salesman winning many award for top sales. He returned to school in his 40s and received a degree in accounting. He was a substitute teacher prior to his retirement.
Butch was preceded in death by both parents, Elton and Toddie Belcher – El Dorado Springs; his grandparents, Jack and Mabel Lancaster and Lillie Belcher.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Patricia (Fowler) Belcher; two daughters, Shantelle Harris and Kyla (Todd) Odell – Blue Springs, and two sons, Adam (Caryn) Belcher – Jacksonville, FL, and Craig (Jean) Jackson – Appleton City; one brother, Russ (Leann) Belcher – El Dorado Springs; 11 grand children; three great-grand children and a host of nieces and nephews.
Butch never met a stranger and will be greatly miss by many.
