The El Dorado Springs Christmas Basket committee is pleased to announce that the distribution date for food baskets and gifts will be Saturday, Dec. 15. The First Baptist Church on Main Street has again invited the committee to use the facilities there to collect and distribute the food and gifts. Recipients should plan to pick up the gifts and food from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Application forms for this year’s program will be available at the Health Dept. in the Southside Medical Mall (just south of Woods Supermarket), and from the Dept. of Social Services in Stockton. Applications must be completed and returned to the Dept. of Social Services in Stockton before noon on Nov. 28. Participants are encouraged to return applications as soon as possible as only the first 200 eligible families will be sure to get a food basket. Gifts are provided to eligible children ages infant to 16. The committee depends on the generosity of the community to make it possible to provide this assistance.

Recipients must live in the El Dorado Springs school district but do not have to have children in the family. The need for assistance must be verified by social services or a minister. Senior citizens are encouraged to apply.

Donations from businesses, civic groups and individuals and the support of volunteers is crucial to the success of the program. Please watch for donation barrels at Ehlers Variety, Woods Grocery, Material Matters quilt shop and Summer Fresh Grocery around Thanksgiving and give generously.
