Willie Lee Cox, 94, Nevada, formerly of El Dorado Springs, passed away Nov. 12, 2012, in Christian Healthcare in Nevada. She was born July 1, 1918, the daughter of Bro. W.F. “Dude” and Ellen Pace.
On Feb. 8, 1943, Willie Lee married Chester Thomas Cox. To this union five children were born – Russ, Marcie, Frank, Elven “Abe” and Nelda Elaine.
Willie Lee was saved when she was 13 years old in the back of a Model A Ford going home from a revival meeting held at Hazel Dell Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member at Pleasant Ridge “Pacetown” Missionary Baptist Church.
When her health began to fail, she moved to Nevada in 2008 to be near Abe and Marcie.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Chester, and one son, Frank.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcile Hurschman – Nevada and Nelda Elaine Shaw and husband, Myrle – El Dorado Springs; two sons, Elven “Abe” Cox and wife, June – Nevada and Russell Cox – El Dorado Springs; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. The family will have a private graveside service for Willie Lee Cox at Virgil City Cemetery beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16. Arrangements are under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
