A public meeting to provide information about a 2013 project to build an interchange at Hwy. 13 and Hwy. 82 in Osceola is set for Thursday, Dec. 6, in Osceola, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
An online version of the meeting will be set up on the MoDOT web site — modot.org/southwest.
The purpose is to show plans for the interchange and gather public comments through Dec. 20.
The in-person meeting will be open house-style from 4 to 6 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church at 3845 NE Old Hwy. 13 in Osceola. No formal presentation is scheduled. Visitors may come and go at any time during the two hours to look at plans and talk with engineers working on the project.
The online meeting will show the same material, with ways to contact the project engineers.
The new interchange will be built at the intersection of Hwy. 13 and Hwy. 82 in Osceola. Hwy. 82 will be routed over Hwy. 13.
It will be necessary to close Hwy. 82 for a time to connect the highway into the new interchange. During the closing, Hwy. 82 drivers will have to find alternate routes to reach Hwy. 13.
Drivers also can expect lane closings and delays on Hwy. 13 at times during construction.
Business 13 on the west side of the Hwy. 13 will be relocated slightly to the west of where it currently intersects Hwy. 82.
The project is expected to start in the summer/fall 2013 and be completed by the fall/winter 2014.
The estimated construction cost of the interchange is $7 million.
