Carol Sue Thomas, 65, Butler, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, in her home. She was born Oct. 27, 1947, to Lester Earl and Hester Orinda Pace Gibbs in El Dorado Springs.
Carol, one of three children, grew up in El Dorado Springs and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1965. As a homemaker, Carol devoted her time and talents to the care of her home and family.
Carol, known to most as “Red,” was down to earth, would do anything for others, always had a smile and took pleasure in the simple things of life.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching “Wheel of Fortune,” Ladies Night Out with her friend, Sharon, and watching Chiefs football–even though she would admit to not understanding anything about the game.
If you knew Carol, you loved Carol. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Carol is survived by three daughters – Tammy Thomas and significant other, Eric Moorning – North Kansas City, Rhonda Hess and husband, Floyd – Archie and Karen Thomas – Butler; lifetime friend and former husband, Robert Thomas – Butler; one brother, Darrell Gibbs – El Dorado Springs; seven grandchildren – Tyler Hess, Cody Gregg, Kristen Gregg, Courtney Thornburg, Maggie Stark, Jazmin Thomas-Moorning and Jamar Thomas-Moorning; and one great-granddaughter, Courtlynn Terpening. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Peggy Sibley.
